Compression Garments and bandages are an essential part of lipoedema and lymphoedema management.
When the venous systems function is reduced, the pressure in the veins increases and swelling of the affected areas can occur. Now, the impaired lymphatic system has to work even harder to transport and dispose stored excess fluid.
Compression garments are used to slow down or even prevent further progression of oedema and the associated swelling. To achieve this, the garment is sized and custom made to apply the correct pressure on the skin. The applied pressure assists the lymphatic system to maintain its decongestive function.
We are happy to assist our patients to make the right choice of which of the different designs and compression classes to use, based on the severity of the condition, the nature of the connective tissue, and skin folds and edema enlargement.
Today, lipoedema can be detected early and treated well. Regular use of compression stockings helps to prevent the reoccurrence of edema.
